Erm HELLO HEATWAVE! Better late than never eh?
If you're anything like us, you probably spent the past few days BBQ'ed up to your eyeballs, exposing pasty legs to the sun's rays with a morbid desparation and drinking far too much Pimms/rose/cider - delete as applicable. Therefore, you're probably feeling a little bit sunburnt (check), hungover (check), full of burgers and a longing desparation to flee from your desk back to the nearest park (check, check).
Here's Grazia's handy survival guide to riding out the heatwave.
Don't Start Drinking Too Early
Come autumn you wouldn't dream of pitching up to the pub pre mid-afternoon but for some reason summer dictates that any time of the day is booze time. Cue an embarassing 6PM stumble home from the park and in bed by 7.
The Shade Is Your Friend
You can bang on about your 'olive-toned' skin as much as you very well like but the fact remains that on our fair isles we're not accustomed to the sun. A bit of factor 15 means you'll tan slower but look less like a swollen lobster by the end of the day.
Drink Water (But Not Too Much)
Guess what? In the park there's one toilet and 85 children that want to use it before you. Stay hydrated yes, but not so much you end up squatting behind a bush.
Make Sure You're At The Front Of The Queue For BBQ Food
No-one wants to end up with the veggie sausages.
Get Inventive With Your Entertainment
If plugging your telly in outdoors seem like a step too far, drag the wi-fi reuter as close to the garden as possible and rig up a sophisticated anti-glare system for your laptop.
Wearing Some Clothes Is Still OK
Shorts go below the bum cheek, below.
If You've Had The Bright Idea To Head To A Pool...
...So has everyone else.
Everyone Looks 85% More Attractive In The Sun (And After A Few Beers)
So beware of Fred from Account's wandering hands at after work drinks.
If Your Morning Commute Is A Stuffy One, Make Sure You've Got A Foolproof Method To Keep Cool
Because showing up at work bearing distinct pit-whiff isn't the greatest way to win friends and influence people.
Just Remember, It Could All Come To An End At Any Time
So make the most of it.
