What happens when Prince William goes out for an evening without his wife? He let's his hair down of course. The Duke attended a drinks reception for the Winter Whites Gala in aid of the Centrepoint charity at Kensington Palace last night where he took to the stage to perform the Bon Jovi classic 'Livin' On A Prayer' with pop star Taylor Swift and rocker Jon Bon Jovi himself. William even loosened his bow tie for the musical turn as he threw some shapes on stage.
The trio - who we're now referring to as a super group - did an acoustic rendition of the Bon Jovi hit in front of a crowd of 600 guests. Jonathan Ross compared the evening, which also saw Eliza Dolittle, James Blunt and Tinie Tempah perform. While Taylor Swift appeared to be channeling the Duchess of Cambridge in a princess-y Jenny Packham gown, she looked thrilled to be sharing the stage with rock royalty and real royalty. The star, who also belted out her songs I Knew You Were Trouble and Fifteen, addressed Prince William directly during her set saying, "I have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It’s amazing. To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults."
Ahead of the show she also had an audience with the Prince and she later said, "He was very funny. I was really happy he was funny." Bon Jovi took a more fatherly approach, revealing, "I met his father and I met his grandfather. He's still a young kid to me, but a nice young kid." William has been a long time a fan of the band and is thought to have previously sung a karaoke version of the song at his cousin Zara Tindall’s wedding reception in 2011.
So what do you think of the Prince and his performers? Could he knock the pop Prince from his throne?
