WIN Tickets To 2013 Oya Festival: Solange, Grimes, Blur? Hello Best Line-Up Ever!

Everything the Scandinavians do, we can do better. Except when it comes to being tall. Or smoking fish. Or looking cool, whether you’re wearing new clothes (Hi Acne), or old and lovingly-curated vintage (Hey, founders of Beyond Retro). Or even just being naked (which they do, post-sauna. I’ve tried it! It’s mental-slash-fun! Really!). They’re also good if not better than us at doing festivals....

I know, bold, but take Oslo's Øya - a tidy, thoroughly instagrammable three day festival that runs from 6-20 August, which basically trumps them all. Situated in a park near the city centre, it’s really easy to get to and you don’t even have to camp. It also breaks the metaphorical mould in the way it's run, mixing local, Norwegian talent with a raft of international big hitters and some ridiculously good food involving oysters and umami, which comes courtesy of the impossible-to-get-a-table-at Oslo restaurant, Maeemo, which this year is hosting a pop up brunch tent. I mean, who does brunch at festivals? Norway does.

What’s more, they’ve just announced this year’s line-up and guess what? It’s worth paying £17 for a pint. It really is. Wo-men are represented by the brilliant triumvirate of Laura Mvula, Grimes and a recently Bic'd Cat Power, who were just announced to appear alongside brilliant lady-rappers, Azealia Banks and Angel Haze.

The past, meanwhile, come via Blur and Kraftwerk while pure brilliance comes via The Knife, Haim, Tampe Impala and James Blake. Also appearing are the ace Parquet Courts, Goat and Mount Kimbie. Oh and Solange Knowles. And Grimes. I could go on, but I won't, instead I'll direct you here to see for yourself.
