In a year that brought us Seth McFarlane’s depressingly one-note Oscar hosting gig, the teaming up of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey at the Golden Globes was a masterstroke.
In their opening monologue they managed to make slaying quips about Lena Dunham, James Cameron, James Franco and Meryl Street amongst other. But what took it to the next level was the ease of their delivery, it was akin to two friends who’ve known each other for 20 years, riffing off each other after too many frozen Magaritas and doritos. It made the susequent hosts of the many, many award shows look a bit plastic-y and forced in comparison.
Well the duo who are responsible for our favourite ever celebrity Fromance (female bromance) are returning for hosting duties and in this teaser, they treat us to, um, the opening song from their monologue.
Watch out for Amy’s Lionel Richie-like white piano which suggests she about to launch into a version of ‘Hello’ at any moment. Also, we’re pretty sure that Tina Fey can sing. Well in a fashion anyway (see below).
The Golden Globes takes place on January 12.
