Forget a career in journalism, it sounds like we might have picked the wrong profession! This week, it was reported that stars of the CBS sitcom Big Bang Theory - Kaley Cuoco who plays Penny, Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) and Johnny Galecki (Dr. Leonard Hofstadter) - have signed new $1 million-per-episode deals. Pft! Small change or what?
The comical trio were reportedly earning $325,000 per episode (that's £192,797) but have now bumped-up their salaries to a cool million dollars after signing new contracts with studio WBTV, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.
Their co-stars Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj Koothrappali) are yet to have agreed new contracts, but are expected to have deals in place by the end of the week. The studio is probably a bit delayed after picking themselves up off the floor after their earlier Penny/Sheldon/Johnny pay-rise chat.
Although we are totally jealous, we’re also a little relieved after the sitcom production put on hold because the stars didn't want to return to the set without having signed new contracts. Phew!
Ok, it might seem like a lot of cash to the average Grazia gal but they’re in good company in sitcom-land. It was widely rumoured that the cast of Friends also negotiated $1 million-per-episode deals and that was 10 years ago. (We totally think that's acceptable for our beloved Friends and that series really is the gift that keeps on giving with twice daily repeats available to all…)
