UPDATE: Calvin Harris has responded to Rita Ora's claims that he was behind his ex-girlfriend's cancelled performance last weekend. Taking to Twitter, the DJ said, 'You'll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life (sic)'. This was followed by another tweet insisting his decision to not allow Rita to sing the tune at the Los Angeles ceremony was justified:

Yikes! The 30-year-old then tweeted a picture of a waving emoticon. And so the saga continues...
It seems that the gloves are well and truly off for Calvin Harris and Rita Ora - or Calvin at least. When Rita's recent performance of her Calvin-produced single How We Do at the Teen Choice Awards was cancelled, rumours were rife that it was Calvin who has pulled the plug on his ex. And he didn't exactly help matters by tweeting 'You act so innocent now... but you lied so soon' - a lyric from his hit Summer which was widely interpreted as a dig at Rita. Never underestimate the power of an emoticon guys.

In a surprisingly candid move, now Rita has confirmed to Ryan Seacrest that Calvin was behind her cancelled performance. Speaking on his radio show, she said: ‘For anybody who doesn't understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song. So he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn't get it. And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.’
But while Rita admitted that she wasn’t thrilled with Calvin’s decision, she stayed philosophical, adding: ‘I could have got told a few weeks earlier, you know. That would have been nice. It was a last minute change, but you know what, it happens and we move on and move forward … It is what it is, man. You know, you write a song with somebody, and I guess there's some stuff that comes with it … Everything happens for a reason, that's how I look at it.’
We're interested to see how this all pans out, as Calvin has reportedly produced a number of tracks on Rita's forthcoming second album. We guess this is the pop star equivalent of getting off with James from accounts at the Christmas party, not returning his calls and then realising that your expense claims keep going mysteriously missing. Stay classy, Calvin!
