We've seen the on-set snaps and admired the costumes and now, finally, the trailer for the silverscreen re-creation of Diana, Princess of Wales' life has landed. Naomi Watts plays the People's Princess and looks fabulous with becoiffed blonde hair, those big blue eyes and a rather wonderful wardrobe (scroll down to watch).
The film focuses on the period in Diana’s life when she was in a secretive two-year relationship with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan. ‘I went off and did some of my own research, and spoke to people who knew Diana,’ Naomi Watts has said of the role. ‘There is so much information available, and one story conflicts with another, so you don’t know what source to trust. It was important for me to know what was true. I asked for proof, and wanted to know whether some things took place.’
Although there's no dialogue in the just-landed snippet, the footage shows what made Diana 'the most famous woman in the world', from her charity work to her love affairs. Here's what else the trailer teases us to...
Those glitzy gowns - Versace, dahling?
The hoards of royal fans
Her flashbulb-popping glamour
Her romance with Dr. Hasnat Khan
The heart-warming charity work
Her nuturing character
Her jet-setting lifestyle

Life as a royal
The power of those mesmirising eyes
Speaking about her decision to take the role, Naomi Watts admitted that she struggled with the idea of playing Diana. ‘It’s definitely risky. But having said that, it’s a story that had to be told. It’s a piece of history,' she admitted. But as well as thoroughly researching the script, the crew have gone to great lengths to ensure that the physical transformation is as accurate as possible even using a prosthetic nose.
But Naomi was keen to point out that her portrayal of Diana is an interpretation. ‘I’m not the same height. I don’t look like her, though we’ve tried our best with hair, make-up and clothes.’ If the trailer is anything to go by, we’re sure the Oscar-nominated actress will do Diana’s memory justice.
