Madonna and Miley Cyrus go a little bit country [Instagram]
In a bit of a work slump right now? Welcome to #PlayTime, Grazia Daily's new music feature bringing you a different hot track every day of the week. From just-dropped music premieres to cool covers and throwback classics, its the new soundtrack to your afternoon.
Say hello to our first ever #PlayTime star - Miley Cyrus. The controversial popstress performed Arctic Monkeys' 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' as an encore after her MTV Unplugged session - yep the one Madonna turned up for - but the track was never aired. It's been released today and it's definitely worth checking out - even if you're not a Miley fan.
Miley's take on the song is one of those covers that's shouldn't work but really, really does. Sexy, stripped down and with a Southern country twang, it's a world away from Alex Turner's grungy northern vocals but it's AMAZING. Starting off sultry and down-tempo before showing off serious power-ballad vocal prowess in the final chords, this might be our favourite Miley track ever - and there's not even any twerking.
"Thankyou MTV for letting me of all people go 'Unplugged'," she says at the end. "That's brave."
