She was once the ‘poster girl for partying in London’ (her words) but these days Peaches Geldof spends her time posting pictures of her cute little sons on Instagram and Twitter and is in bed by 8pm most nights. We caught up with her to discuss what has changed and how she is enjoying married life with S.C.U.M singer Tom Cohen and being a mother to Astala, one, and Phaedra, six months.
‘I feel like I grew up a lot when I had the children,’ Peaches told us. ‘It healed many things in me that were painful. When my sons were born I could be reborn as a wife and mother. Getting married to the right person changed me too.’ In this week’s issue of Grazia, Peaches also tells us the secrets behind her perfectly posed Instagram and Twitter pictures of Phaedra and Astala. ‘There are so many things I have to do to get a good baby photo. With Astala I’ll rattle a bag of Maltesers so he’ll look up all smiling. It’s not at me, it’s at the Maltesers! With Phaedra [I hold up] shiny things.’
Peaches follows the controversial method of ‘attachment parenting’ which promotes skin to skin contact, breastfeeding until your child wants to stop and your baby sleeping in bed with you. As a result she admits her and husband Tom sleep apart. ‘It’s hard core in my house. We had a bed made that’s 9ft long and 8ft wide so that we could all sleep in it but Phaedra’s crying wakes Astala. So I sleep with Phaedra and Tom sleeps with Astala in the spare room. It’s not that great for our intimate life.’
