Get those quarts of Whisky and valve squeezing cigarettes at the ready, Mad Men is coming back on April 13th. The first on-set pics have just landed (check out Mr Draper above, swoon!) so it's a good time to work out what we know about the forthcoming series. And let the countdown begin!
1) It’s The Final Season!
Creator Matthew Weiner confirmed that this the seventh season would be the last! We’re not sure how we’ll come to be honest. Will we resort to listening to Zou Bisou Bisou on loop? Help!
2) It’ll Be Split Into Two Parts
There will be seven episodes shown in the spring (called ‘The Beginning’) and the next seven (entitled, sob, ‘The End Of An Era’) will be shown in 2015. AMC president Charlie Collier explained to The Hollywood Reporter: “This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and, most recently for us, with Breaking Bad, which attracted nearly double the numbers of viewers in its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode.”
3) Will We Get A Better Call Saul! Style Spin Off?
That’s a big, fat ‘no’ from creator Matthew Weiner. He told THR: “There’s no chance. No judgment against anybody else- but that is it. This is the story. When it’s done, it’s done.” There goes our dream of ‘Peggy In The City’….
4) How Will It All End?
We don’t know specifics but one person who does is Matthew Weiner. During Season Four he revealed : “I do know how the whole show ends. It came to me in the middle of last season. I always felt like it would be the experience of human life, and human life has a destination.“ (via Screen Rant).
5) Basically Is Don Going To Kick The Bucket?

Not necessarily. “It doesn’t mean Don’s gonna die.” (phew) “I want to leave the show in a place where you have an idea of what it meant and how it’s related to you….I just want it to be entertaining and I want people to remember it fondly and not think it ended in a fart.” And no-one wants that.
