Lena Dunham Gets Another HBO Show: The 5 Ways She's Taking Over Our Lives

01 February 2013 by

She’s a very busy girl that Lena Dunham. Currently lapping up the praise for the second series of her show Girls, it’s now been announced that the 26 year old is working on a brand comedy show for HBO.

The network has optioned All Dressed Up And Everywhere To Go, the memoir of legendary Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper Betty Halbreich, and it's been confirmed Lena will adapt it for TV with Jenni Konner, her executive producer on Girls. Halbreich still runs her personal shopping service, and over the years she's catered to A-listers including Sarah Jessica Parker and Meryl Streep. Basically, we're expecting The Devil Wears Prada meets Mr Selfridge.

We’re not quite sure how Lena is going to fit this in, seeing as she is already the busiest women ever. Here’s how she is already taking over the world…

1. Girls. Obviously.

Lena had the world talking about her Girls way before it even hit screens last year. It’s now in its second season, with a third one confirmed. Lena posted pictures last week of her and Jenni Konner in their ‘writer’s room’ (which looked suspiciously like a plush hotel suite to us) starting work on Hannah and co’s next adventures.

2. Her massive book deal

Last year, Lena signed a $3.5 million (£2.3million) deal with Random House to publish her first book, a collection of essays titled Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned. If only we could read her mind, we’d be rich too.

3. She’s the new Woody Allen

At least according to Juno and Young Adult screenwriter Diablo Cody (who is also writing a musical based on the Sweet Valley High books…eek!) "I absolutely love Lena Dunham,” she told the Huffington Post.  “I cannot believe what she has accomplished at 26. I think she is like our new Woody Allen. Lena Dunham is jumping from box to box all the time.”

4. She’s in Hollywood films

Judd Apatow is the executive producer of Girls, so it’s perhaps no surprise he gave Lena a cameo as a record label employee in his latest film, This Is 40, which also stars Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segal, Chris O’Dowd and Megan Fox. Nice work.

5. She rules Instagram

Somewhere among all the writing, acting, directing and producing, Lena still manages to keep her 668,500 (and counting) twitter and 272,000 Instagram followers entertained. Most recently, by posting pictures of her new dog, Lamby.
