It was a sad day when Russell Brand announced that he would be divorcing Katy Perry on December 31st 2012 after just 14 months of marriage. Now Katy has revealed the shocking details of the split admitting that not only did Russell not break to news to her in person, he didn’t even given her a call.
Yep, that’s right he ended their marriage by text. The method of dumping usually only used by 14-year-olds and the totally socially inept and Katy has totally taken him down by revealing it to the world *high fives*. ‘I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011,’ said Katy in a new interview with US Vogue.
The singer then cryptically went on to add that there may be a secret reason behind the break up, ‘I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, 'This isn't because of me; this is beyond me.' So I have moved on from that.’ We wonder what she could be taking about…
Round 1. Russell takes his ring off
In a video filmed even before the divorce was announced Russell takes his ring off in this video. Clearly a sign of things to come, this video was widely reported on once the split had been revealed.
Round 2. Katy releases Part of Me
This isn’t the first time Katy or Russell have spoken out about their relationship, in fact there seems to be nothing they like more. In June 2012 Katy unleashed her biographical film Part Of Me, starting as a tour DVD it chronicled the break down of her marriage to Russell. At many points Katy is seen crying hysterically and she admits, ‘There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I'm about to go up on that ramp and sing Teenage Dream.’
Round 3. Russell calls Katy an “Arse-Ache”
Russell then hit back on his American based TV show Brand X saying that Katy had given him a lot of ‘arse-ache.’ Then, in March this year, Russell took another hit at his ex wife when he said on a special XFM radio show for the Teenage Cancer Trust, ‘That marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I’d even got off the elephant. It was a drag, man. Let me tell you a thing about marriage. Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. It is a sacred 14-month arrangement. Begins on an elephant – ends in a newspaper.’
We await to see who makes the next blow…
