Kate Winslet Married Ned Rocknroll! Here Are 10 More Celebrity Weddings Of 2012

27 December 2012 by

We woke up this morning to the exciting news that Kate Winslet and her partner Ned Rocknroll married earlier this month in a secret ceremony in New York. Congrats to the happy pair whose Big Day was attended by Kate's two children from her previous marriages and "a very few friends and family", a rep confirmed. Rocknroll (who changed his name from Abel Smith) is the nephew of Sir Richard Branson, and the couple has been engaged since the summer. It's been reported that another important man in Kate's life, her Titanic and Revolutionary Road co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was responsible for giving her away. We hope that this rumour turns out to be true, but for now, let's take a look at the top 10 celebrity weddings of 2012...

1. Agyness Deyn and Giovanni Ribisi

The Brit supermodel got hitched to Giovanni Ribisi (that's Phoebe's brother to 'Friends' fans) in a 'quiet' ceremony in Los Angeles in June before the world even got word that the pair were dating. They admitted they were getting married when an employee of Crown City News spotted the pair in line at the Los Angeles County Registrar's office 'passionately kissing.' For proof, this cheeky snap above emerged of the unlikely couple looking utterly loved-up. Aw!

2. Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

It was in October that Anne married her boyfriend of four years, Adam Shulman, on a private residence in California during a ceremony 'inspired by nature'. Legendary designer Valentino was the man behind the bride's off-the-shoulder dress, which was made of layers of silk chiffon and influenced by romantic, vintage creations.

3. Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

The stunnning actress wed her ballet beau Benjamin Millepied (y'know, the hunky dancer she met while filming Black Swan) in a traditional Jewish ceremony in August. The couple said their vows after sunset while standing under a classic chuppah (that's a wedding canopy) at a private residence in the cliff-side California coastal town of Big Sur. Mazel to them! A-list guests reportedly included Macaulay Culkin, Diane Sawyer, Rashida Jones and Ivanka Trump.

4. Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty

In September the happy couple secretly tied the knot in Rome at St Isidore’s College Church, which specialises in giving Irish people dream weddings close to the Vatican. Cat wore a gorgeously ruffled bias-cut gown with flowers in her hair and her Radio 1 DJ pal Edith Bowman was a bridesmaid.

5. Holly Valance and Nick Candy

Also in September Aussie singer Holly Valance wed property developer Nick Candy in an elaborate three-day wedding that took place in Beverly Hills (where else?) at the multi-million pound home of the owner of Ralphs Grocery Store. The bride wore an extravagant white gown by Melbourne-based label J'Aton Couture complete with a full-feathered skirt, tight-fitting bodice and a vintage FIFTEEN FOOT veil. The look was topped off with a deep red rose bouquet. Simon Cowell was amongst those who joined the guestlist, alongside friends and family of the happy couple.

6. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

From the sounds of it Justin Timberlake’s wedding to Jessica Biel in October was not dissimilar to a full blown military operation – they had their 150 guests fly to Germany before they were taken by private plane to the Borgo Egnazia resort in Fasano, Italy where the ceremony took place. Jessica wore a Giambattista Valli-designed dress with a "princess-like silhouette" – in white AND pink – while Justin and his groomsmen chose Tom Ford suits. Very suave. The happy couple released a statement saying, ’It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends.’ Altogether now, AWWWWW.

7. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

The Gossip Girl actress got hitched to Ryan Reynolds in September. Although we were convinced she'd wear either a Chanel or Gucci wedding dress (considering she's the campaign star for both mega brands), Blake instead opted to wear a gown custom made by Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. The happy Hollywood couple opted for an intimate, personalised ceremony that took place at a rustic barn in South Carolina. A 'fun-filled carnival hour and elegant reception' followed to create 'a truly enchanting celebration'. Doesn't it sound magical?

8. Jack Osbourne and Lisa Stelley

Adding to the list of autumn nuptials were Jack Osbourne and Lisa Stelley who got hitched in Hawaii. The island wedding was at Kona-Kohala and there were 48 guests, including rents Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, six-month old daughter Pear, sister and bridesmaid Kelly and her boyfriend Matthew Mosshart. Turns out Jack is quite the trickster, as he took to Twitter last week to deny that he was getting hitched in Hawaii. He Tweeted: 'I love how going to Hawaii with my mum for her 60th has turned into my wedding. Hahaha people are funny.'

9. Jared Followill & Martha Patterson

Over in Nashville in late September, Martha wore a strapless gown by Monique Lhullier featuring a lace embellished bodice and flowing feathered skirt while the groom chose a Gucci suit. The couple got married in a rustic outdoor ceremony. A guest told People: 'They had a great farm-to-table cuisine with all of their favourite things. It was down home and very real. It was very much true to their style.' Jared's bandmate brothers Caleb and Nathan and his cousin Matthew attended with their respective wives. How we love a family affair...

10. Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass

The Park Avenue princess and her seriously long-term love finally walked up the aisle in the final episode of Gossip Girl much to the joy of all of us who hung on in there for six seasons - and we can't get enough of looking at these dreamy pictures. There was a blue Elie Saab wedding dress, a Hollywood kiss and criminal conviction narrowly avoided. Just you're average day in the world of our favourite gang of conniving Upper East Siders.
