Kate Moss Week: Watch Her Speak!

07 January 2014

She's one of the most iconic British models of all time, the queen of cool and the ultimate party girl - so it would be rude not to celebrate the 40th birthday of our very own Kate Moss. And in this week's issue of Grazia (out now), we do just that with a 17 (yes, SEVENTEEN!) page tribute to her life and style. Pick it up now to see our favourite Mossy moments and in the meantime, let's watch her actually speak her best (and very) rare interviews...

The first lady of fashion is famously shy when it comes to spilling the beans on her personal life, or anything else for that matter. But on a few rare occassions she has opened up for the camera. Once upon a time it was over a cup of tea with David Bailey, and sat on the Big Breakfast sofa next to a certain Mr Depp with Gaby Roslin. We love trawling through the archives and watching '90s Kate talk about her modelling experiences when she was thrust into the global spotlight in her early teens. Watch our fave clips of Mossy below - we think you'll agree they're the perfect recipe for feeding that unquenchable '90s nostalgia…

1. Kate on taking her clothes of...

Kate talks about the pressure she felt to take her clothes off for the camera over a brew in the local caf with David Bailey. The iconic fashion photographer, who has spent heaps of time with Kate throughout her career, caught a candid moment with Kate in his ’98 documentary ‘Models Close Up’.

2. Kate on fame...

Mossy talks about travelling on her own, dealing with fame and loss of privacy and tabloid gossip. When the interviewer describes her as a sex symbol she erupts into an infectious giggle. Love. Her.

3. Kate on wedding Johnny...

The first time young Kate got called up for a Big Breakfast she oh so kindly brought the charming Johnny Depp with her and they chatted about charity, how the paparazzi are like mosquitoes and Depp's (pretend) skin graft. The second time, however, she sits on the sofa sans Depp, but coyly avoided a question about marrying her heartthrob boyfriend.

4. Kate on her wedding...

To go alongside the Mario Testino photoshoot of her wedding for the September issue of US Vogue, Mossy opened up about her wedding dress and said she wanted it to be dreamy, soft focus and a rock and roll Great Gatsby wedding. She confessed she now understands a Bridezilla show...

5. Kate on her style...

With age Mossy has got a lot more comfortable in front of the camera (the film camera that is, she’s never had any problems with photographers!) She talks about the direction fashion is going in, and hits the nail on the head when she says that fashion on film has a big future. She doesn't miss much that Moss, does she!
