Kate Moss - 25 Amazing Tracks To Celebrate 25 Amazing Years Of Catwalking!

In late August 1988, 14-year-old Kate Moss, her father Peter and her brother Nick, were stuck at New York’s JFK airport desperate to get home for Kate’s grandmother’s wedding. With less than 24-hours to go until the ceremony began, the trio stood stranded at check-in until three seats pinged, unexpectedly, onto the clerk’s computer monitor – they would make it home after all. Also on that flight, was a 35-year-old called Sarah Doukas who had, less than a year earlier, founded Storm model agency with a £250000, no-interest loan from Virgin boss, Richard Branson. She’d recently signed Rachel Hunter, but once she set eyes on Moss, a face full of freckles from a fortnight spent lounging on a beach in the Bahamas, she knew that this was a once-in-a-generation look – and so, a quarter of a century later, it turned out to be. “Kate Moss,” Sam Taylor-Wood famously pronounced, “is the cultural icon of our age.”

In tribute to Croydon’s finest, here are 25 songs to celebrate 25 years, from Yazz, Number One the week La Moss was discovered, through her own collaborations with Primal Scream, The Lemonheads and Babyshambles, out-of-nowhere smashes by t.a.T.u., Cornershop and Mr Oizo to artists like Katy Perry and Adele who have been shaped by a world Kate Moss helped to invent. So congratulations – and here’s to the next 25…

Miriam Ní Fhathaigh (Thu Mar 14 01:30:19 GMT 2013): terrible list, Kate Moss would be embarrassed of that.
