As she accepted the Outstanding Performance by an Actress award for Silver Linings Playbook at the Screen Actors Guild awards on Sunday, Jennifer Lawrence referenced the MTV advert that allowed her to get her first SAG card. The actress told the audience, 'I want to thank MTV. I’ll explain that. I earned my SAG card when I was 14, I did an MTV promo for My Super Sweet 16. And I remember getting it in the mail and it being the best day in my entire life, because it officially made me a professional actor.' Aww! Just eight years on, J-Law is now the toast of Hollywood with two Best Actress Academy Award nominations, a Golden Globe, a contract with Dior and several other accolades under her belt. Geniusly, this promo has been uncovered (watch it above) showing our Jen as a fresh-faced 14-year-old trussed up in a fancy prom dress that ends up splattered in cake. Ha! Of course, Ms Lawrence is not the only A-lister to start life in a commercial. Oh no. Wait until you see these...
1. Brad Pitt does Pringles circa 1988
We're not sure what's more troubling, Brad advertising crisps (we bet he didn't show this to Chanel) or the fact that Pringles have been around since the eighties.
2. Mila Kunis and Telephone Tammy circa 1994
If the producers of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie need any proof that Mila can do sweetness and light for the role of Anastacia Steele then look no further...
3. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Burger King circa 1981
What would Buffy say? Eh? EH?
4. Paul Rudd and Super Nintendo circa 1991
It was this floppy mop that made us fall in love with him in Clueless. Now, he's about to star in a film about being 40 (aka This Is 40). Does that make us old??
5. Leonardo DiCaprio and Bubble Yum circa 1988
Do you think Baz saw this and thought, 'Romeo, Romeo. Where for art thou Romeo'??
6. Matt Le Blanc and Heinz Ketchup circa 1987
This is exactly the type of ad we can see Joey doing!
7. Jack Black and Pitfall Harry circa 1982
No. We don't remember the Atari either. Honestly...
8. Meg Ryan and Aim Toothpaste circa 1981
Hmmm, we'd quite like to take 'aim' against that hairdo Meg...
9. Elijah Wood and Wavy Lays circa 1994
Excellent preparation for Deep Impact. Scouts and crisps. What more do you need to survive the end of the world?
10. John Travolta and Safeguard Soap circa 1972
Safeguard soap. Good for washing off Grease. *ducks from missiles launched in our direction*
