Whether we're loath to admit it or not, summer's almost drawing to a close. One good thing about September though is that it marks the return of cosy weekends spent huddled infront of our television screens watching The X Factor! Exciting! Today we were present at the launch of this season's X Factor at the Mayfair Hotel where we got to watch the equally as hilarious and goosebump inducing auditions, before asking the judges a thing or two. We may even have welled up once or twice. Nothing gets us going quite like talent, pride and dreams imagined.
We shared chuckles with Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and the gorgeous Nicole Scherzinger, X Factor presenters Caroline Flack and newbie Matt, as well as Simon Cowell, who snuck in unseen. "I feel like a proud daddy" he joked, following the screening, alluding to current stories regarding his actual impending daddy status. "No other show has launched so many stars, or indeed any stars," jokingly (or not so jokingly) introduced ITV director before the room was plunged into darkness and highlights of this weekend's shows took over the room.
All eyes were on Nicole Scherzinger who looked "shamazing" in a strapless navy blue jumpsuit by Three Floor and red heels. And boy did she know it! Asked which song she'd pick if she had to choose one to audition with, the former Pussycat Doll responded: "I'm Too Sexy" by Brit pop band Right Said Fred. We'd pick that for you too, Scherzy. As for Sharon? Elton John's "The Bitch Is Back". Lolz. That said, the audience and fellow judges alike seem supremely pleased, indeed, to have her back from her six year hiatus.
"For me, she's the Queen," said Nicole, when asked if she was intimidated to work with the hilariously outspoken lady. "It's an honour to work with her." Even Gary Barlow gave Mrs. O infinite props, dubbing her the "Queen Judge." And she looked every inch it in black trousers and a stylish printed jacket from Escada's pre-collection, signature fiery red hair aglow.
And this season looks set to have a whole host of surprises, starting with the fact that the X Factor hopefuls will now have to get through two sets of auditions before their positions on the show become cemented; one in front of the judges, and one in front of a writhing, cheering crowd. The ITV website have further confirmed that there's a new format for the bootcamp, which will see judges choosing their final six in front of a live audience, possibly replacing some who have already been put through if a better contestant comes along.
Oh, and there's a fifth judge! We wish we could tell you but we've been sworn to secrecy. Soz! All will be revealed Saturday and Sunday night on ITV. That's our weekend sorted, then.
