If you're anything like us, you're super excited for the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and there's not long to wait! The film hits cinema screens on 21st November - just over one month, people! - and we can expect more kickass action from Jennifer Lawrence and co. In the sequel, we see Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem. Eek! But aside from all the drama, we're itching to see the latest costumes.
You'll remember that for the first film, costume designer Trish Summerville pulled in the big guns including Alexander Wang and Catching Fire is set to be even more fash-tastic. We've had sneak previews of Katniss' Bjork-like wedding dress designed by Tex Saverio as well as Peeta's Rick Owens boots and Effie Trinket (played by Elizabeth Banks) will sport actual catwalk looks. What's more, Trish has teamed up with none other than Net-A-Porter to create a collection inspired by the film's costumes for us mere mortals to get a piece of the sartorial pie.
There'll also be plenty of panem-demonium. Yes, we're talking about the not very lovely district of Panem, the kind of dystopian futureworld that would freak Dr Who out. A Facebook message on the Catching Fire site stated: “Citizens of Panem: Every quarter century, The Capitol honors the anniversary of its victory over the Districts with a special edition of the Games. This year—for the first time in history—your favorite victors will return as tributes. As usual, all residents are required by Capitol law to watch the Games. Insubordination will not be tolerated.” Cripes!
