STOP THE PRESS: we have a new guilty pleasure we need to get off our chests, it’s confession time. We are obsessed with Little Mix’s new track, ‘How ya doing?’. For the just-landed track, the girls team up with Miss Sassy herself, Missy Elliot. Can you believe it? We've seen the video and you can watch it too at the bottom of this page but - VIEWER WARNING! - those with a nervous disposition towards the over use of print should look away now. Here are five other things we've learned from the new video...
1. GIRL POWER IS BACK
These girls have some serious A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E in the tank and have the gold hoops to match! This is girl power for a new generation, they may not be named after items from the spice rack but the message is the same: It’s all about the sisterhood team!
2. IT'S OKAY TO DYE YOUR HAIR A RIDIC COLOUR
Did you know that after appearing on The Graham Norton Show with Little Mix, our fave silver babe, Helen Mirren called up her local hairdressers for a hair dye? Oh yes. That’s right. Perrie from Little Mix was The Queen’s, opps I mean, Helen’s hairspiration! In this video all the girls are working a vibrant colour, with Jade perming her purple locks creating a modern day version of Julia Robert’s hair circa Pretty Woman. Note to self: book in a perm and a purple dye job STAT.
3. CLUB + HOUSE? THE NEW REAL ESTATE DREAM!
In scenes akin to Destiny Child’s Bootylicous video, the four girls next door travel through a set of brightly coloured rooms, leaving clothes trailing in their wake. Like a classic episode of changing rooms, we are treated to pink décor, a bang on trend monochrome room and finally a club which is casually attached to their walk in wardrobe. SAY WHAT? We are beyond jel. Having a club attached to the house would save us from the walk of shame/ getting the night bus home (delete as appropriate).
4. LITTLE MIX ARE CASUAL PALS WITH MISSY ELLIOT
Leigh-Anne rapping like a young Aleesha Dixon just isn’t enough for Simon Cowell. And how can you top The Saturdays with Sean Paul, oh that’s how, drop a line to the greatest female rapper ever, MISSY ELLIOT! Perhaps the girls met Missy on a casual trip to the corner shop during their recent promotional tour to the USA? Their musical eyes met across the check outs… we can dream!
5. THE CO-ORDINATED GIRL GROUP IS OVER
Remember those days in the late 1990s when girl groups had to be co-ordinated? Exhibit A: B*Witched with those matching denim combos accessorised with the Ellesse trainers. Well those days are long gone. It’s now all about letting each member stand out and express themselves. These girls barely have a matching colour between them and yet it still works. Here Leigh-Anne dons a cropped monochrome striped top and vibrant skirt, whilst Jesy tackles the Varsity trend, Perrie models cartoon chic the trend Phillip Lim started what feels like a whole millennium ago and Jade is just the street girl who has a liking for clashing prints. Missy Elliot however models a whole new trend we will christen ‘Inmate chic’. Missy wears an orange jumpsuit customised, naturally, with an array of bling. Don’t go customising your jumpsuit at home girls without seeking parental permission first!
