Monday nights won’t be the same again as Season 2 of Girls draws to a close tonight with the series finale ‘Tonight’. With enough unanswered questions (will Shoshanna break up with Ray?, will Hannah get back with Adam? Where the hell is Jessa?) to make our heads hurt, let’s take a look back at our favourite moments.
1) ‘I Love It’
Hannah and Elijah have narcotic induced hi-jinx at a club. As bad life choices (not to mention bad fashions choices- hello string vest!), the two friends dance to Icona Pop’s brilliant I Love It.
2) Hannah and Sandy’s break up conversation
We’re not sure if it’s life-imitating-art but when Sandy (played by Donald Glover) breaks up with Hannah, an interesting conversation about race ensues which doubles as a moment where Lena Dunham confronts those accusations of having an unrealistic, white only cast.
3) Marnie’s Song
We never thought we’d see Marnie singing, let alone doing an acoustic version of Kanye West’s ‘Stronger’ at Charlie’s new work do. A truly cringe-behind-the-sofa moment.
4) Shoshanna gets frisky
In spite of doing the dirty on Ray, who didn’t let out a little cheer when Shoshanna throughout her rule book and spontaneously made out with a door man?
5) That Ping Pong game
In one of the season’s experimental episodes, Hannah has a lost weekend with upscale doctor Joshua. In one notable scene, the two play ping pong not entirely clothed…
6) Jessa’s homecoming
Jessa’s character is partially explained in this episode where we see her dysfunctional relationship with her dad up close and personal. Their last scene together is an emotional high point of the whole season.
7) Wonderwall
After Hannah’s disaster of a dinner party, she tries to cheer herself up with a bath and a selfie version of the Gallagher classic. Strangely moving.
8) Jazzhate
Has there ever been a funnier hipster magazine parody than Jazzhate? We don’t think so.
