In last night's episode of Girls, 'Dead Inside,' Hannah's e-book editor David suddenly dies. Hannah's reaction? To think about herself, obviously. She is too busy spiraling about the future of her e-book and googling how he died to shed one single tear for David. As for the other girls, Jessa finds out that her best friend who died is actually alive and living in a brownstone with her 'cool-looking husband' and baby. Season needed to cut ties with Jessa the 'total enabler.'
Marnie is fighting back against her public humiliation (we know you haven't forgotten that music video) by blending a bunch of vegetables, training like Rocky and quitting her job at Cafe Grumpy. While Laird is mourning the loss of his pet turtle, whose corpse he carries about in a plastic case. Shoshanna is a little too absent from this episode for our liking, but she does deliver one winner: 'I feel like my bandana collection is my most developed collection. I mean my array of bandanas is insane.'
The episode isn't just about dying, it's also about lying. At the end of the episode Hannah tells Adam she had a cousin who died of muscular dystrophy so that he thinks she has some empathy and isn't a total sociopathic. Which evidently she is. This is going to end very badly. It's a shame as we are starting to fall madly in love with Adam, especially after he said the words: 'If you died the world would blur. I wouldn’t know what a tree was.'
Other notable parts of episode four include Ray's teeny tiny goatee, another look at Marnie's video and Hannah, Laird and Caroline (Adam's sister) running through a grave yard to Jake Bugg. We hope Hannah Hoffmann (Caroline) sticks around for a while as we are loving her wacktacular wardrobe and her wild top knot.
