Woo-hoo! Eminem is set to team up with Rihanna for a joint tour in the US. He told XXL magazine: “There are some shows coming up with Rihanna. It’s a three city tour: New York, L.A. and Detroit coming in August.” After their classic duets The Monster and Love The Way You Lie, it’s bound to be three nights to remember. Here are some other tours partners we’ve loved (and we don’t mean you, McBusted).
1. Miley Cyrus And Sky Ferreira
Miley Cyrus and Sky Ferreira have constructed their own small mutual music appreciation society (see Tweet above). Sky has defended The Cyrus saying that she was ‘not a bad feminist’ while Miley has repeatedly bigged up Sky’s music on twitter, so it was just a matter of time before they collaborated. Sky’s currently supporting Miley on tour in the States. It sounds like a brilliant line up to us.
Justin Timberlake And Christina Aguilera
The former Mouseketeer buddies teamed up in 2003 for a co-headlining Justified and Stripped Tour. It sounds pretty poptastic to us- X-Tina was supporting her career besting Stripped album while JT had just released his Justified album. They also released a joint, US only EP to celebrate. See above for mildly hilarious retro ad.
Kanye West And Jay-Z
Unfortunately Kanye’s proposed joint tour with Lady Gaga never happened (the proposed Fame Kills: Starring Kanye West And Lady Gaga tour in 2009 got cancelled at the last minute- imagine what the set designs would be like!), but when he teamed up with in 2011 for the live version of his collaboration with Jay-Z, Watch The Throne, it was great. Two greatest hits set for the price of one.
Robyn And Kelis
The two alternative-divas decided to tour together after having a conversation on Twitter (how very modern). They did nine shows together in the States, Kelis played songs from her Fleshtone album and Robyn grooving on with tracks from the first Body Talk EP. We wished they’d come to the UK.
Hole And Marilyn Manson
Two legendary bands. Two legendary egos. Obviously, it didn’t last very long (Hole left after less than ten dates) but it would have been amazing to see- both for the ideologically at odds bands playing together and to witness the arguments over how go the biggest dressing room- Courtney or Brian?
