Tears, tantrums and Tulisa labelling the whole thing ‘ridiculous’, what’s going on with The X Factor? While the drama of results show makes our Sundays, last night’s shenanigans have left us a little confused to say the least.
If you missed it, here’s why we’re still reeling: Ella Henderson and James Arthur (both favourites to win) ended up in the bottom two. Their Saturday night performances were both pretty much perfect, but that apparently wasn’t enough for viewers, who were blamed for supporting ‘jokey acts’ like Rylan Clark over the talented duo.
When the vote came down to a reluctant deadlock after Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger went with James and Tulisa and Louis Walsh sided with Ella, even Dermy couldn’t believe the singing contest was about to bid farewell to one of its most talented contestants yet. He branded it ‘the biggest shock we’ve ever had’. The judges faces mirrored this sentiment. And the disbelief didn’t end with Tulisa calling the situation ‘ridiculous’ or Ella’s sincere thank-you speech. Simon Cowell tweeted afterwards: ‘Ella! Gone? Unbelievable’.
Is it time then for a little X Factor rule overhaul? Maybe Louis and co should be given the power to over-rule the public vote? Or would that ruin the fun factor of our favourite reality show? Watch the video below and let us know your verdict.
