Culture Cuts: David Bowie, Kanye West Plus Justin Timberlake’s New Song

This week we’ve been going gaga over Claire Danes’ new interview where she talks through the highs and lows of her acting career, plus we got quite excited when we saw these brand spanking new images from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. But there was plenty of other stuff going on too...

1) David Bowie’s New Video

Unlike the spangly clip for The Stars (Are Out Tonight) and the nativity theatrics of The Next Day, Dame David has decided for a much simpler video for Valentine’s Day. Watch as he mournfully sings his new single in an abandoned warehouse, playing possibly the tiniest guitar known to man. The best bit is the close up of his trademark ‘magic eyes’.

2) Justin Timberlake’s New Track

We’re pretty excited that Justin Timberlake has confirmed a second volume of The 20/20 Experience (coming September 20th). The lead single is Take Back The Night that sees him channelling Off The Wall -era Michael Jackson with funky gusto *gets out disco pants*

3) Watch The 5th Estate Trailer

We’ve already had the rather brilliant documentary film We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks and now we’ve got the trailer of The 5th Estate which features Benedict Cumberbatch-doing-Julian Assange (via an accent that sound uncannily like Jim from Neighbours).

4) Watch Kanye West’s Sitcom

Some wag has uncovered this clip from the pilot of Kanye’s aborted HBO sitcom. Although it never made it onto TV, we think it has the makings of something pretty funny (and by that we mean: 'funnier than all the episodes of Everyone Loves Raymond, like ever') . In fact, in terms of 'lolz level' we'd rate it just above Marnie from Girls doing her version of Stronger.

5) Listen To Annie’s New Song

We’re pretty excited that Swedish songbird Annie has teamed up with her old sparring partners Richard X and Hannah Robinson for her new EP. This just released track Hold On proves she’s still got that magic electro touch. Also we love the sleeve that looks like it was directly ripped from the pages  Smash Hits.
