Culture Cuts: Bat For Lashes Covers Fleetwood Mac, The CBGB’s Film PLUS Haim’s New Video

This week we’ve been mostly anticipating new episodes of our TV favourites Nashville , Girls and obviously Breaking Bad. Here’s the other stuff you may have missed this week…

The Trailer For Fading Gigolo

Is it weird that we haven’t involuntarily guffawed at a Woody Allen film trailer like this in ages? Weird perhaps because Fading Gigolo wasn’t written and/or directed by Woody but instead by indie legend John Turturro. Also we like the fact that it reunites Mr Allen and Sharon Stone (yes, we love Stardust Memories).

HAIM’s Crazy New Video For The Wire

Hey HAIM! We love you. And we love you even more thanks to this video for your Glitterstomping new song The Wire. It’s basically a series of sketches focusing on the perils of modern dating, featuring HAIM doing their best ‘acting faces’ (cue lots of face palming) and the always hilarious (oh, except for when he's been awful on Girls) Jorma Taccone from The Lonely Island.

The Fact You Can Stream Earl Sweatshirt’s Doris Now

Our new favourite member of Odd Future’s much anticipated debut is nearly here and you can stream the whole thing here. It’s all very excellent and features Tyler, The Creator, RZA and Frank Ocean.

Watch The CBGB’s Trailer

Tbh we’re both a bit scared and excited about this film about the legendary New York club CBGB’s featuring the likes of Malin Akerman and Mickey Sumner doing Stars In Their Eyes versions of Blondie, The Ramones, Patti Smith and more.

Watch As Bat For Lashes Covers Fleetwood Mac

During her brilliant one-off show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Bat For Lashes treated her fans to a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Welsh witch classic Rihannon with her trademark elegance and subtlety. This will make your Friday afternoon.
