The largest Comic-Con in San Diego is currently taking place, featuring a pantheon of actors from our favourite cult and superhero films (and shows). It's basically a paradise for the geeky fanboy/girl inside us all. Here are the best things we've gleaned from the Q&A's so far...
1) Jennifer Lawrence Revealed The Snotty Truth Between Katniss and Peeta
During The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Q&A, Jennifer Lawrence talked about what happened when a snogging scene between her character Katniss and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) went a bit wrong. “There was all this snot coming out of my nose and when I had to kiss Josh it went in his mouth and then I coughed and I wobbled it in.” Celebs! They're just like us!
2) Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston Went To First Base With... Himself (It Was Pretty Weird TBH)
OK so it went down like this: Bryan Cranston turned up to Comic-Con sporting a mask of his Breaking Bad character Walter White. No-one knew it was him, until he popped the fake head off at the show’s Q&A. Then things got really weird as first Bryan then Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman) started snogging the mask. Which was both awkward and meta.
In other news, show creator Vince Gilligan said of the finale: “I am satisfied by the ending. I hope you will be too. My writers and I, and everyone in front of the lens and behind it I think is feeling pretty good about it.”
3) Gillian Anderson Hinted At Another X Files Film
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of The X Files, Mulder and Scully reunited! Yes, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny (alongside creator Chris Carter and a heap of the show's writers) did a round table. Gillian said she would be up for getting back together with her old sparring partner and sometime love interest, she said; “a film would be great.”
It was also revealed that Drew Barrymore almost did a guest appearance on the show and that if the two went on a real life date they two would “have sex” (according to Gillian) “then maybe dinner” (said David). What’s that sound we can hear? It’s the tapping of a thousand fans penning some M&S fan fiction right about now...
4) Vera Farmiga Defended Bates Motel
A show we’re getting really excited about is Bates Motel, the ‘contemporary prequel’ to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, which tells the story of the teen Norman Bates and the Oedipal relationship he has with his mother Norma (played by Vera Farmiga). At Comic-Con Vera defended Norma and Norman’s relationship saying it was “a really bizarre love letter between a mother and a child…in her defence, she is the mother of a child with mental issues." After Vera's Emmy nomination for the role, our excitment for this show has reached fever pitch....
5) Superman/Batman Team Up Revealed!
Director Zack Snyder announced that Man Of Steel 2 will feature Henry Cavill battling...the caped crusader, Batman (not Christian Bale this time). A good idea? A bit of "two-for-price-of-one"? Maybe a bit of both? Zack certainly seems excited, he said: "let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world."
