Oh dear. For those of you hoping to try a fragrant glass of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s new wine - we’ve got some bad news. Despite going on sale only yesterday, their rose, named Miraval, has already sold out *cries into a glass of Blossom Hill*.
It was only announced last month that the famous twosome would be releasing their own wine from their vineyard at their $60million chateau in France, but unsurprisingly there were a whole host of people hankering to get their hands on a bottle as soon as it was released.
Reports yesterday suggested that only 6,000 bottles went on sale - for roughly $22 each or $139 for a case - and promptly sold out in just five hours. Never fear though, Brad and Ange aren’t the first celebrity types to launch their own wine, so whilst you’re waiting for them to make some more you can still grab yourself a bottle by one of this lot…
Drew Barrymore – Barrymore Wines
Not the most inventive of names but Drew wanted to create her wine in honour of her family. She made the Pinot Grigio after travelling to Italy and some of the proceeds from the sale of the wine go to charity.
Sting - Tenuta il Palagio
Sting named his first wine after his own song ‘Sister Moon’. It’s a 14.5% red – that’s pretty strong to you and I. But that’s not all he produces: from his Tuscan getaway you can not only buy wine but olives and honey made by Sting’s own bee farm. He’s basically thought of everything.
Fergie – Ferguson Crest
Sadly this wine is not made by Sarah Ferguson, but Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. Fergie and her father Pat started making wine in 2006 and she’s been pictured on several occasions checking out the vineyards. We like a woman who’s willing to put the work in!
Cliff Richard – Vina Nova
Now, we know what you’re thinking. No one really wants to be seen with a bottle of Vin De Cliff Richard on their table - but hear us out. Cliff’s wine has actually won medals and an international wine award – it’s no Jolie-Pitt Perin but it’s certainly not to be sniffed at.
Madonna – Ciccony Vineyard and Winery
Madonna’s vineyard in Michigan was planted in 1996 and is predominantly run by her brother Tony and his wife and their children. You can not only buy their wine but also go there for tastings - hell, you can even get married there. Imagine if she popped in to do a special performance.
