Rumours that Beyoncé and President Obama have been having an affair have sent the world’s media into a tail spin today. The story began on French radio station Europe 1 where it was claimed that the Washington Post had been preparing to break the story (that’s since been denied).

Photographer Pascal Rostain, who famously uncovered the affair between the French President Francois Hollande and actress Julie Gayet, started the rumours. 'You know, at this moment, in the United States, there’s something huge which is about to happen,’ Mr Rostain told radio interviewer Jean-Marc Morandini. ‘Indeed, it will come out tomorrow in the Washington Post. We cannot say that it is from the gutter press - a supposed liaison between President Barack Obama and Beyonce. I can assure you that the world will talk.’

He went on to say that in recent months there had been a noticeable ‘distance,’ between Barack and his wife Michelle. ‘For the first time, there are still images or televised ones of the Obama couple becoming a bit distant,’ he said. ‘One can legitimately pose questions. We were told the same thing by the pictures of Hollande and Trierweiler.’ Rostain has since back-tracked saying that his quotes were a ‘joke’.

A representative for Beyoncé called the story, ‘absurd.’ The singer and her husband Jay Z have long been close friends of the President and his wife. Indeed, Barack even requested that Beyonce perform at Michelle’s 50th birthday. In July 2012 Beyonce even wrote Michelle an open ‘love letter,’ professing her respect for the first lady.

Beyonce and Barack are the first celebrities to get caught up in the rumour mill though, here are four other crazy celebrity affair tales…

Elizabeth Hurley and Bill Clinton

Apparently being linked to an American President is quite en vogue at the moment. Last week it was claimed that Elizabeth Hurley had had a year long affair with President Bill Clinton that started in 1998. Liz took to Twitter to deny the story saying, ‘Ludicrously silly stories about me & Bill Clinton. Totally untrue. In the hands of my lawyers. Yawn.’

Angelina Jolie and James Haven

Well, this is definitely awkward. After Angelina decided it would be a good idea to lock lips with her own brother at the Oscars in 2000 rumours of a relationship between the two were rife. They both denied anything inappropriate had ever happened.

Kanye West and Riccardo Tisci

Oh dear. Last year one American magazine reported that Kanye West was allegedly having an affair with him and Kim’s close friend Riccardo Tisci. Funnily enough, nothing ever came of the story and the three remain close friends.

Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles

One Direction boy band members Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles have long been dogged by stories that they are secretly in a relationship. Fuelled by the imaginations of their overzealous fans the rumours continue – despite both boys denying it, they even call them ‘Larry Stylinson’. Awks.
