It might be hard to believe, but it’s been a whole 10 years since SB (solo Beyonce) sashayed into the spotlight with her debut album Dangerously In Love. The lead single was of course Crazy In Love, the multiple award winning track, which launched a thousand failed attempts at fan booty shaking throughout the years. In tribute, the songstress has updated her Tumblr with a hoard of never-before-seen snaps from the video shoot. So its tenth birthday, let's make our own homage with 10 things you (probably) didn’t know about the song...
1) The Song Was Written When Hung Over
Rich Harrison, who co-wrote the track, told MTV that he didn’t expect the song to be such a big deal. “I mean, I wrote it hung over,” he said.
2) Beyonce Didn’t Like The Song At First
Rich Harrison said: “From her face (I could tell that) she was kind of like, ‘I don’t know, but I’mma ride with you anyway.' I knew I was going to have to sell (the song) a little bit, because when it comes on it doesn’t sound like anything that was being done (at the time).”
3) The Sample Is From A Chi-Lights Song
Recognise the horns?
4) The Pussycat Dolls Are In The Video
Well one of them is (and it’s not Nicole). Carmit Bachar plays one of B’s homegirls in the promo.
5) Jay-Z's Rap Almost Didn’t Make The Cut
His rap was a last minute addition Beyonce only asked him to rap on the song the evening before the recording session. Rich Harrison remembered: “He played the track and went crazy!”
