One minute Justin Timberlake was singing solo at the MTV VMAs on Sunday - the next Joey, Chris, Lance and JC were standing next to him and, just like that, *NSync were re-formed before our eyes. The surprise (and amazing) comeback gave us a warm fuzzy feeling and had us remembering some of the best ever band reunions…
1. Destiny’s Child
Remember when Michelle William’s said over and over again that Destiny’s Child wouldn’t sing together at the Super Bowl in 2011? Well, she lied. And boy, were we glad to see her and Kelly step up alongside Beyoncé.
Let’s face it, the boys were never going to find a new fifth member. Still, Scott, Ritchie, Abz and Sean showed J what he was missing when they got back together as part of The Big Reunion earlier this year.
Just when we needed a double denim fix, Irish lovelies Edele, Sinead, Lindsay and Keavy came to our rescue. And we didn’t hide the fact we remembered all the words to ‘C’est le vie’. God bless The Big Reunion.
4. Liberty X
Another band on The Big Reunion bandwagon. If we had to guess what the ‘X’ in Liberty ‘X’ meant we’d guess ‘Xtra tight rubber outfits’ - something which they weren’t afraid to wear then and still aren’t now. We like that.
Duncan, Simon, Lee and Antony kept us in the *ahem* blue before they signed up to join forces for The Big Reunion. And we won’t lie, we squealed just like our 15-year-old selves did the first time round.
6. PJ and Duncan
Ant and Dec dusted off their baggy clothes (or maybe they just wore them underneath their normal gear) and sang ‘Lets get ready to rumble’ accompanied with a faultless dance routine in March. They said it was for a ‘joke’ but they’d clearly been practising!
7. The Spice Girls
The girls came back to spice up our lives for the Olympic closing ceremony in July 2012 - complete with THAT union jack dress and shed loads of girl power. Priceless.
8. Take That
When Robbie Williams left Take That in the mid-90s we tried to love the band the same, but there was always a Robbie-shaped hole in our hearts. So, when he came back for the 2011 Progress Live tour we felt complete again.
9. Backstreet Boys
The Backstreet Boys are back! Literally. 20 years since forming (that’s right - 20) the lads have kissed, made up and proved why they sold 130 million records back in the day…
10. The Sugababes
The original ‘babes are back. And if like us, you find it difficult remembering who the ‘originals’ actually are, it’s probably best to note down Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya for future reference.
