Angelina Jolie continues to give us a serious inferiority complex. She’s currently in talks to become a citizen of Namibia so she can become a dame.
As you might remember, she was been bestowed with an honorary damehood by the Queen in her Birthday Honours, but because Ange is American she cannot officially use the title. Bummer.
Apparently Angelina’s been advised that if she becomes a citizen of Namibia, which is part of the Commonwealth, she will be able to use her title, which she feels will help with her charity work. Also, she’ll get to be known as Dame Angelina which is pretty cool in its own right, no?
A source told The Sun newspaper, ‘Angelina was blown away when she was made a dame. She thinks it will add gravitas to her in her humanitarian work. Gradually she will focus less on acting and more on world issues and this helps to detract from her Hollywood history.’
Luckily for Ange, she already has strong ties with Nambia, as her eight-year-old daughter Shiloh is a Namibian citizen, having been born there in 2006.
And the Namibian Embassy has said that it would happily to consider Angelina for citizenship. A representative said, ‘We would welcome Angelina Jolie to make an application for citizenship, just like anyone else.’
