It was battle of the bums at last night’s American Music Awards as Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea performed their single Booty on TV for the first time, and proceeded to gyrate like there was a family of spiders trapped in their pants. Iggy went on to be one of the night’s big winners, scooping best rap artist and beating Eminem to win favourite rap/hip-hop album. You may remember that the ever-charming Eminem recently threatened Iggy in an explicit leaked track, but Iggy used her acceptance speech as an opportunity to take the moral high ground, saying: ‘It means so much that I can stand here against Eminem and Drake and come out with this’. To paraphrase Shoshana Stone, she’s so classy.

Elsewhere, woman of the moment Taylor Swift opened the show with a deranged performance of her new single Blank Space and was later awarded the new Dick Clark award for excellence by Diana actual Ross. We think we like cray cray Tay Tay the best.

Representing Blighty were One Direction, who accepted artist of the year, favorite pop/rock band and favorite pop/rock album. After his recent illness Zayn was looking better than ever, and we must say that we’re proud of him for being man enough to accept that his hair just wasn’t working. We much prefer his new Johnny Depp in Cry-Baby style quiff.
