With just over three weeks until The Great Gatsby hits the big screen we’re all super excited to see F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel come to life. And we've been lucky enough to get our paws on this exclusive new image of the main man himself. HOT! To prepare us for the movie event of the year (any excuse to swoon over images of Leonardo DiCaprio in a suit, right?!) here is all you need to know about this spring’s must see film...
1. It has an amazing cast
Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio will be taking on the lead role as Jay Gatsby with Carey Mulligan playing Daisy Buchannan. Other cast members include Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton.
2. It’s from visionary director Baz Luhrmann
He's already bought us Romeo and Juliet, Moulin Rouge and Strictly Ballroom – what’s not to love?!
3. The film is set to open Cannes Film Festival
Cue outfit envy for all of Carey Mulligan’s red carpet outfits as the first ever viewing takes place on 15 May.
4. The costumes are incredible
Miuccida Prada worked with costume designer Catherine Martin to create over 40 different looks for the film, all inspired by styles from the Prada and Miu Miu archive. Expect shimmering dresses complete with fringing and sequins in shades of emerald, jade, topaz and gold. American brand Brooks Brothers designed costumes for the films male actors and Tiffany & Co provided the bling.
5. The soundtrack is epic
After being introduced by none other than Leo himself, Baz Luhrmann has collaborated with Jay-Z for the films soundtrack. The Grammy award winning Mr Beyoncé will be executive producer bringing the modern Jazz Age energy of the book to the big screen with the help of some of world’s top musical artists including Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Emeli Sande and Florence and the Machine.
6. It'll get us in the mood to party
We've no doubt that the film will immediately make us want to pack our bags and head straight to the Hamptons for a summer of cocktails and 20's inspired parties. Champagne, darling?
