Watch... Beyonce at the Superbowl

It's Superbowl Sunday! Or as someone tweeted this morning, 'oh, there's a football match at Beyonce's concert'. While the boys may be consumed with watching grown men tackle each other to the ground to gain a yard or two (see, we don't know the rules either), we'll be trying our hardest to stay up in time for the half-time show where Beyonce will be taking to the stage to entertain the masses. And not lip-syncing this time. Ok?!

Sunday, 10.55pm, BBC Two and BBC HD

Read... some life literature

There are two ace books on our reading list for this weekend. The first is Sheila Heti's How Should A Person Be? Part memoir, part novel and part self-help guide. Following her divorce, twenty-something playwright Sheila Heti starts to closely observe Margaux, her new friend, and Israel, her new lover, in an attempt to answer: what sort of person should she be? And if you ever get that feeling that life is just passing you by and that you've not actually achieved anything, it’s not just you. That’s exactly how Story (yes really, that’s his name) feels on the brink of a middle-youth crisis in Afsaneh Knight's funny and squirm-inducing second novel The Sunshine Years.

Pre-order... Girls Season 1

Yes, we know we go on about it a lot but it's only because Girls is really, really good. Starring, written and directed by Lena Dunham and executive produced by Judd Apatow, the HBO show has been a hit in the States and over here. If you're not a Sky Atlantic subscriber and have yet to see what all the fuss is about, [a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Girls-Complete-HBO-Season-DVD/dp/B007V3OXPM">pre-order the Season 1 boxset[/a] which is out on DVD on Monday.

Visit... The Shard

If you've got a head for heights, book your tickets to London's tallest viewing platform at the Shard. At 800ft about street level, you can see our nation's capital from a 360 degree angle, 72 floors up...

[a target="_blank" href="/weblogEntries/theviewfromtheshard.com">Tickets from £24.95[/a]

If you're about to jetset off to another country, this probably isn't ideal viewing but otherwise, it's well worth a watch to see Denzel Washington earn his sixth Oscar nomination. Flight sees him as an airline pilot whose heroic feat threatens to expose his secret alcohol addiction.
