5 Things To Do This Weekend: Go To Oz And Watch Mr Selfridge

08 March 2013 by

1. Watch... Oz: The Great and Powerful

We've been to see the wizard and we can confirm it was magical. Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful is sort of like the prequel to the Oz saga detailing how the Wizard ended up in the Emerald City and how the Wicked Witch really came to be. It's beautiful to look at and well worth a watch in 3D. James Franco and Zach Braff have excellent banter and there are some [a href="/conversation/entertainment/exclusive-interview-with-oz--the-great-and-powerful-costume-designer-gary-jones">pretty epic costumes[/a] worn by the leading ladies Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz. Kids will love it too so it's the perfect choice if you have a family thing come Mother's Day.

2. Get Your Groove On At Ballet Revolucion

The sell-out sensational show returns to Sadler's Wells for another season. It's contemporary dance so think ballet mashed up with hip-hop. Plus with a live Cuban band, you're bound to be caught up with the energy as they shimmy and shake their way through song after song, many of which you'll be very familiar with indeed.

Until 23 March, [a href="http://www.sadlerswells.com/show/Ballet-Revolucion-2013" target="_blank">Peacock Theatre [/a]

3. Take Home Gary Barlow on DVD

Yes, you did read that right. We've been mourning the loss of seeing Mr B on our screens since X Factor finished last year but after embarking on his first solo tour in 12 years, Gary Barlow Live brings all the highlights from his performances right to your living room along with backstage access and never-seen-before clips. Yay!

Gary Barlow Live DVD, out now

4. Watch... Mr Selfridge

It's the final episode in the series of Mr Selfridge this weekend and the last chance for a little while to see our cover stars gracing our screens. Mr Selfridge arranges for a very special VIP to visit the store after hours. The King then returns the favour by inviting Harry and his wife to the theatre...

Mr Selfridge, Sunday, 9pm, ITV

5. See... Side Effects

If family-friendly fantasy isn't your thing, you must check out Side Effects, the latest big screen offering from Steven Soderburgh. Deliciously intriguing, we see the troubled Kate (Rooney Mara) battling with depression as her husband (Channing Tatum) is released from prison. Her doctor (Jude Law) thinks medication might help. Be prepared for an utterly gripping rollercoaster...
