5. Get... A Good Night's Sleep
Friday 15th March is apparently World Sleep Day. We're not entirely sure what that means. Today we want to crawl into our cosy beds to hibernate just as much as at the end of any week. The Mental Health Foundation says that poor sleep is linked to a weakened immune system, anxiety, poor memory and depression – so shut eye is totally essentially to functioning as a normal human being. That being the case, it's often easier said than done. Debbie Haynes, co-owner of milkandhoney – a family-run company which sells affordably luxurious duvets, pillows and other bedding - recommends the following:
1. Duvet wars - don't fight with your partner over who has the covers. If one or other of you finds yourself with more or less during the night, invest in a duvet slightly bigger than your bed. So if you sleep in a double, opt for a kingsize.
2. Old, lumpy pillows will not provide the comfort or support you need. Invest in new ones. If they're stained or smell a bit, you know you've been holding on to them for too long.
3. Quality as well as quantity of sleep is just as important so if there is a noise keeping you awake, a light flickering in the distance or something else which disturbs your slumber, sort it out and pronto.
