Woop, woop! Spring is just about in the air- here’s a list of things to do this weekend!
1) Watch Only Lovers Left Alive
A reclusive rock star (Tom Hiddleston) and his lover (Tilda Swinton) shun the limelight with good reason in this latest from US indie auteur Jim Jarmusch: they’re vampires. Delicious, dark comedy ensues, with nice supporting turns from Anton Yelchin, Mia Wasikowska and John Hurt. Charles Gant.
2) See Katy Perry’s New Video
After her performance at the Brits, K-Pez debuts the video for Dark Horse that sees her channelling her inner Cleopatra and referencing Michael Jackson’s Remember The Time promo.
3) Eat some New Orleans Food
Head down to Dalston Pond for some Southern Fried food (crawfish, cornbread, Cajun sausage and sweet potato pecan pie). Tickets range from £30 and £10. Full details here.
4) Catch Nymphomaniac
Fifty Shades Of Grey? Pah! This year’s most controversial – and sexually explicit –film is Lars Von Trier’s two-part odyssey chronicling the life of the titular eroticist (Stacy Martin, then Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her encounters with her boss (Shia LaBeouf), professional S&M master (Jamie Bell) and many more. Charles Gant.
5) Watch Stranger By The Lake
Nymphomaniac isn’t the only Euro arthouse film this week featuring explicit sex. Also blush along to this gripping French drama about a gay man (Pierre Deladonchamps), whose fixation on the local cruising ground’s macho stud (Christophe Paou) remains undimmed after watching him drown his latest conquest. Charles Gant.
