Despite the weather going a bit ‘El Nino’, we’ve got the bases covered with things to do as we finally get rid of January (hurrah!).
1) Go To Nordicana
Good news for Nordic Noir lovers everywhere – a whole festival is being held this weekend in London for all things Scandi cool. Nordicana 2014 – is a jam packed two day celebration of our favourite genre and the detectives from The Bridge Saga and Martin (Sofia Helin and Kim Bodina) and Borgen’s leading-lady (Sidse Babbey Knudsen) - we’re not worthy! - will all be there alongside best selling authors and other familiar faces. There will be book signings, panel discussions and stalls selling food, drink, fashion and furnishings – if you are interested in getting the look and nailing the leather pant cool of Saga for once and for all.
2) Wave Bye Bye To Dry January
At Bourne And Hollingsworth you can try a whole heap of new season cocktails including ‘Coca Loco’- an twist on Hot Chocolate featuring cognac and ’Pimmsberry’ a pun-tastic cocktail which combines Gin and Pimms.
3) Watch That Awkward Moment
Dating comedy That Awkward Moment follows the fortunes of three pals (Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan), as their pact to stay out of committed relationships unravels. Imogen Poots shines as the gorgeous, whisky-drinking, videogame-playing girl every guy would like to date, and Zac repeatedly disrobes - Charles Gant
4) Go See Out Of The Furnace
Christian Bale follows up breezy conman tale American Hustle (see it!) with this distinctly grittier effort playing a steel worker who stands up to a psychotic criminal (Woody Harrelson) after his younger brother (Casey Affleck) disappears. Also classing up the screen: Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker - Charles Gant
5) Celebrate Chinese New Year
The festivities kick off on Sunday (February 2nd) and features fireworks, martial arts displays and more. It's an amazing way to wave goodbye to the January blues too. Full details can be found here.
