She was a shoo-in for our coolest person of 2012 – and Lena Dunham is already making a case for the crown this year too, with a hawt new shoot by Terry Richardson for V magazine. In a rare occasion when she’s not wearing the trousers, Lena dons a Calvin Klein bodysuit and Manolo Blahnik heels while spilling the beans in the accompanying interview about holiday disasters, the perks of fame and her latest celebrity best friend.
The second series of Girls starts on 14th January on Sky Atlantic (cancel ALL plans) but until then, here’s five more reasons why Ms Dunham rules.
1. She’s new BFFs with Taylor Swift
Well, on Twitter anyway. 'We have DM-ed. I’m a really big fan. I was like, ‘I just want to let you know that your albums have gotten me through a lot of very hard times,' she tells V. Just make sure you’re nice to her, Lena – or she’ll write a song about how you screwed her over.
2. She gets a lot of free clothes
Ah that age old irony – as soon as you’re successful enough to buy whatever you want – you start getting it all for free. 'I can’t deny it, and I cannot get over it,' she says. 'And they actually send them in my size. No one’s being an asshole and sending them to me in a 4.'
3. She has sometimes has rubbish holidays
In October Lena took a well earnt holiday and went on a two week trip to India with her mum. Nice. Or not. 'I hated India. I know you’re not allowed to hate India. But I did. I wasn’t happy. And I felt crazy. I saw too many puppies that I thought needed me. So my mom and I got in a big fight and I left India. Early.'

4. She has her cake – and eats it
When she was nominated for her first Emmy in September, Lena happily ignored the standard Hollywood pressure to shrink down for the red carpet. 'I ate cake for breakfast on the day of the Emmys. I ate cake for dinner. I still feel like I looked better than people expected me to. I could feel the envy of every woman in the Sunset Tower.'
5. She’s saving her pennies
She got a reported $3.5million advance for her book, but when Lena bought her first home last year she restrained herself and choose a one bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. A newspaper promptly published the price - $430,000. 'It said something like, ‘Nicole Richie 5.3 million dollars, Lena Dunham 430 thousand dollars.’ It was my proudest New York real estate moment.'
