By now you’ve probably heard the disturbing news that Beyonce might have lip-synched the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration. We know…it’s been a tough 24 hours – but we’ve pulled together and we’re through the worst of it now. Especially as the latest news is, Bey might not have mimed after all. Hurrah!
And being the consummate professional that she is, Beyonce has cleverly thrown a new project out there to distract us. She’s only gone and launched a bloomin’ lifestyle blog [round of applause]. But hang on, an A-list star blogging about her favourite films, books, music, food and fashion…hmmm, this sound familiar. It’ll come to us in a minute. Meanwhile, 10 things we’ve learnt from obsessively studying the Beyhive Blog (geddit?)…
1. Beyonce’s indie record is much cooler than yours…
Yes she’s a multi-platinum, Grammy award winning, MTV dominating, pop juggernaut. But in her spare time Bey likes nothing more than kicking back with an obscure indie record. This week, the actually quite brilliant Lykke Li.
2. But she likes a bit of hip hop, too
Namely, rappers Kendrick Lemar and A$AP Rocky. We wonder if hubby Jay-Z knows about Kendrick’s song, ‘Beyonce’ which has lyrics including “I can day dream about Beyonce all day, Thinkin about the good times before she met Jay.” FIGHT.
3. Her fans like to draw pictures of her
There’s a special section on the website for fan art. It’s erm, interesting.
4. She likes a nice night in with a DVD
This week, it’s Beasts of the Southern Wild, whose star Quvenzhané Wallis is the youngest ever nominee for the Best Actress award at the Oscars. Good choice Bey, we approve.
5. No sibling rivalry to see here
Beyonce agrees with what the rest of the world already knows – Solange’s 'Losing You' is mega.
6. Beyonce is an Andy Murray fan
She thanks both him and Serena Williams for “showing us that anything is possible” and calls him “the true definition of inspiration.” Reports that she is currently recording a single called ‘C’mon Andy!’ have yet to be confirmed.
7. And she likes a bit of modern art
Currently…French artist Sophie Calle, sculptor Shinichi Maruyama and insect artist (?) Christopher Marley.
8. You can stalk Beyonce at the following New York restaurants
Brooklyn’s Vinegar Hill, and Prune and Il Buco in the East Village. Let’s go!

Nuff said.
10. Oh yeah, it’s a bit like Goop
Ah ha…we knew it would come to us! Beyonce’s Beyhive is rather like her best mate Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop…only with less organic tofu and more rappers from Compton.
