Last year's Grammy Awards was all about two women - Whitney Houston and Adele. The 23-year-old British singer took home an impressive six awards and made her first public performance after her throat surgery, singing 'Rolling In The Deep'. But the awards were also tinged with extreme sadness as Whitney Houston died the day before the awards show.
This year's highlights are set to be Rihanna's performance with Sting and Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake's comeback and seeing who breaks this year's nipple ban. See what Grazia Daily is looking forward to at the 2013 Grammys and don't forget to stay up late with us on Sunday...
1. Someone breaking the nipple ban
The Grammys is the one awards show where you see a lotta flesh, rainbow coloured hair and actual fancy dress on the red carpet - think J-Lo in THAT Versace dress. But this year, it will be a bit more conservative as CBS have issued a 'wardrobe advisory' warning attendees not to flash 'buttocks or female breasts.' Eek. Stars have been warned: 'Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure.' We reckon there'll be one or two stars who flount the rules and flash the flesh in protest. Our money is on RiRi or Gaga, obvs.
2. Ed Sheeran and Elton John performing
Ed Sheeran is representing the Brits this year as he is nominated for Song of the Year and is performing with Elton John. This performance might seem like a weird blip in the schedule, but Elts is a fan of an out there Grammys collab as in 2001 he performed Stan with Eminem at the Grammys.
3. The crazy entrances
The Grammys is notorious for weird and wacky entrances, remember this is the awards show where Lady Gaga made her way down the red carpet in a giant egg and was then hatched on stage. Last year Nicki Minaj dressed up in a scarlet hooded Versace gown and was escorted down the red carpet by a man dressed up as the pope. As you do.
4. A saucy Rihanna performance
Rihanna is back on the Grammy stage, this time performing with Sting and Bruno Mars. We'll have to wait to see which song they pick, but fans are guessing it will be Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven' which was his attempt to recreate a Sting song. Bruno Mars said about the track: 'I started singing that, and I was up there in Stingville, in that register, so that's what you get.'
5. Beyoncé making a surprise appearance
After her ah-mazing Super Bowl performance everyone is hoping the 16-time Grammy winner will perform at the show too. Beyoncé replied to the rumours at the Super Bowl press conference as she teased: 'Who said I was performing at the Grammys? I don't know if I'm performing at the Grammys.'
6. Alicia Keys teaming up with Maroon 5
Alicia Keys is performing with Maroon 5 at the Grammys and she tweeted: 'Wait until you see what I do with @maroon5 on @TheGRAMMYs Feb. 10 on @CBSTweet. #TheWorldIsListening ;-)'
7. The return of Justin Timberlake
Mr JT will give his first comeback performance at the Grammys and it's expected he's going to perform his new single 'Suit & Tie.' There's no confirmation whether Jay Z will join him...
8. Taylor Swift's revenge style
Taylor Swift has been rocking the revenge look on the red carpet recently so we're predicting another dose of hawt couture. She is performing again, but there shouldn't be any glares at Hazza if she sings 'I knew you were trouble...' as the 1D boys were snubbed from the Grammy nominations. Swifty is also nominated for Song Of The Year for 'We Are Never Getting Back Together' and if we're honest we hope she loses to Carly Rae just so we can see a repeat performance of the Taylor Swift sneer we saw at the Globes (see below). If this is the look Adele gets for a win, how on earth would she react to a Call Me Maybe win? Anyone say Kanye?
9. This year's Adele
Last year Adele bagged a stonking six Grammys taking home every single award she was nominated for. This year Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Jay Z and Kanye West lead the way with six nominations each.
10. The latest Rihanna and Chris Brown controversy
Rihanna and Chris Brown will both be attending the Grammys so will we see a joint red carpet appearance? If she can support him at the court room we're intrigued to see what the pair do at the awards show...
