Psychologists tell us that these are the questions you need to ask to truly get to know someone. For this week's issue, we sat down with Rita Ora to see if it works on the 22-year-old singer. Here's what she told us...
1. WHO ARE YOU CLOSEST TO?
My mother. She is really strong and has been through a lot. She had cancer and had to redo her whole degree to be able to work as a doctor in the UK and never gave up!
2. WHAT’S YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY?
Playing Cinderella in my school play and being very proud of myself and thinking, ‘wow, I'm quite good at this!’ I was seven years old and I loved acting and performing. I felt like it was the only thing I was good at because I never really got great grades!
3. WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST FEAR?
Not doing something [for a living] that I’m passionate about, I love what I do and I don’t think I could do anything else as well as I can do this (singing).
4. WHAT ARE YOU BEST AT?
Performing, singing and being myself. It has been this way since I was about seven-years-old. When I was little I always wanted my parents’ attention. I was also in a choir in primary school called the Voices Foundation and we travelled quite a lot, including visiting Switzerland.
5. WHAT DO YOU VALUE IN A PARTNER?
Someone who can make me grow as a person and help me reach my full potential.
6. TELL US SOMETHING THAT WILL SHOCK US?
My vocal coach has told me that I’m not allowed to eat Tabasco sauce which is my favourite thing. I have it so much that it causes a problem on my vocals cords. I was so upset. I used to eat it with every meal - my eggs in the morning, lunch and dinner!
7. THE LAST TIME YOU REMEMBER FEELING REALLY HAPPY?
Performing at my sold out London show in February. I couldn’t believe I had got so far in such a short space of time and seeing it in front of me always reinforces it. The rest of the time it’s all go, go, go and you can’t really reflect.
8. WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST REGRET?
I don’t have any. I’m happy with my choices. Although I want to care less about what people say and not be scared to say no when people ask me for things.
9. THE ONE THING YOU'D CHANGE ABOUT YOUR LIFE?
Being in the public eye can be quite harsh but it’s something I'm getting used to. I don’t like the mean heartedness of some people. It’s quite a lot of pressure.
10. WHAT ITEM CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
My red lipstick. It makes me feel like a million bucks on a day when I don’t want to do my full hair and make-up. It makes any woman look amazing, you just have to find the right shade!
