Just went you though Beyonce's 'Flawless' couldn't get any more fierce, M.I.A's gone and given it an even stronger message of female empowerment. The singer dropped a remix of the anthem on Twitter this morning and while it sounds.. err.. nothing like the original, it has the same super powerful vibe.
Bey's original was definitely a girl power anthem and featured Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s message of equal rights, but its focus on looks was maybe... well, bit confused. Should be just be caring about how we look or should we be focused on our career, Bey?
When it comes to M.I.A's version 'Baddygirl 2' though, there's definitely no confusion. While Queen Bee sings 'I look so good tonight', M.I.A sings 'I'm more than b*tt and t*tty'.
'Study at uni and we work at every city girl, we be the women with kiddy getting money girl,' she sings 'Men I can hear everything you say, men and women are 50/50.'
Beyonce's 'I woke up like this' gets turned to 'I woke up like this, I went to bed like this, we do everything just like this'. Plus, just incase you still weren't sure what M.I.A is trying to say, the singer adds in a reworked sample of Beyonce singing 'a diva is a female version of a hustler' at the end. [It's worth sticking around until the last minute just for that.] Check out the remix below...
