#PlayTime: Err.. So *That* Lift Incident Has Boosted Solange's Record Sales

27 May 2014 by

In a bit of a work slump right now? Welcome to #PlayTime, Grazia Daily's new music feature bringing you a different hot track every day of the week. From just-dropped music premieres to cool covers and throwback classics, its the new soundtrack to your afternoon.

The world is a weird place sometimes. Case in point: the fact Solange's record sales have increased since that fight with Jay Z in the lift.

To recap - for those of you who've been living under a rock recently - a video showing Solange trying to kick Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Ball leaked on May 12. Cue shock, horror and a whole array of memes.  By May 18, Solange's digital sales were up from 600 to 2000. Meaning they'd increased by more than 100%. Wowza.

As massive fans of Solange's music, this comes as great news to Grazia HQ. Yup, it's a pretty weird reason for her sales to increase, but it also means more people are listening to her killer tracks - and that's definitely a GREAT thing.

Not heard much of her stuff before? Don't you worry - for today's #PlayTime we've decided to round up five Solange performances and tracks that we absolutely adore.

1. 'Losing You', obvs

2. 'Bad Girls'

3. 'Sleep In The Park'

4. 'Cloudbusting' (Kate Bush cover)

5. 'Lovers In The Parking Lot'
