We imagine a few of you might be bleary eyed this morning, if you stayed up to watch the results of the US election. You would have been in good company as stars from Beyonce to Lady Gaga cheered on Obama's victory and tweeted pictures of themselves visiting polling stations along with the hashtag '#IVoted'. The President himself received a huge amount of attention when he tweeted at 4am today (UK time) a confirmation of his win - 'Four more years' - along with a photo of he and his wife Michelle embracing on the happy occasion. It's unsurprising that this adorably personal snap has been retweeted over 500K times and favourited by nearly 200K followers, surpassing Justin Bieber's 'RIP Avalanna. I love you' tweet from September this year as the most retweeted tweet in the history of Twitter. Phew, try saying that after a few Mojitos!
Beyonce, who along with hubby Jay-Z has made it clear that she's a huge Team Obama fan, posted several pictures on her blog and Facebook page over the last 24-hours, including a photo of herself in a 'Texans for Obama' t-shirt and the statement 'TAKE THAT MITCHES' in references to Republican candidate Mitt Romney's supporters. Lady Gaga also looked in high spirits as she and a group of friends celebrated the final verdict tweeting 'We just couldn't be happier my goodness, the joy when freedom prevails.'
