It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for. Some thought it might never happen but low and behold, on a rainy autumnal day in London town, five – yes, all FIVE members of Girls Aloud held a special gathering to announce a few things to world.
Now despite best efforts and attempts, some of these secrets managed to escape beforehand but we can now categorically confirm what we were all expecting. GIRLS ALOUD ARE BACK!
To celebrate ten years since the band were formed on ITV’s Popstars: The Rivals, Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding announced their return with a new single, a new album and a tour across the UK. *Scream*
We showed you their teaser earlier on in the week but the girls have confirmed that their new single Something New will be released on 18th November and is the Official Single for BBC Children In Need 2012. Following that, on 26th November they’ll release their album Ten which as well as all of their hits from the past ten years features four brand new songs. Wow – they kept recording those pretty quiet didn’t they? ‘It was amazing that we kept it under wraps. I’m really proud of us for that,’ said Cheryl at the press conference.
It’s the first time that all of Girls Aloud’s greatest hits are on one disc including Sarah Harding’s favourite The Promise. ‘The minute I heard that song, I knew it was going to be a hit,’ she said of the Brit award-winning song. And good news for the fans because they have the power to choose which songs from GA’s entire back catalogue will feature on the second disc.
If that wasn’t enough – yes, there’s more – the girls will be back on tour in February next year. ‘Touring is the best thing about what we do full stop,’ said Cheryl. ‘It’s the only time your life is in a routine. We always get depressed when it’s done.’ Sponsored by Pandora, tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday 26th October from www.girlsaloud.com Alarms at the ready people!
We can’t possibly imagine how they’re feeling after three years apart. ‘We were all getting dressed this morning and it just feels normal. It doesn’t feel like we’ve had three years away,’ said Cheryl. ‘It’s like a comfort blanket,’ said Kimberley, who is also super busy with Strictly Come Dancing. ‘It’s just so nice being back together. Being together is our normal.’
Aww! Well, we are very happy to have you back ladies!
