Not content with global domination, it looks as though the One Direction boys have landed themselves a new member in the shape of American football player Drew Brees. But super fans of 1D can calm themselves down right now because it was just a bit of fun for their new Pepsi commercial. Phew!
Yes, it was only a matter of time before the biggest boy band in the world endorsed one of the biggest brands in the world. We have no idea how much they were paid to do the commercial and we’re not entirely sure they needed the extra cash but hey, any excuse to see more of their cheeky smiles on screen is fine by us.
Following in the footsteps of Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj, the ad sees the boys arguing with Drew over the last can of Pepsi, each trying to out-do each other with their successes and achievements including awards and who has the loudest fans. One Direction, obvs. Naturally the boys win by offering him a spot in the band which sees him join them onstage as he sings the title line of their single Live While We’re Young spectacularly out of tune. Guess that’s put paid to his singing career then!
Hot on the heels of their triple win at Radio 1’s Teen Awards (best British single, best British album and best British music act), things are looking pretty good for the 1D boys who’ve nabbed the number one spot in the US for Live While We’re Young. In fact, they managed to break the record for the fastest selling single by a UK artist. Nice work lads!
