You’ll be saving a fortune over the next few weeks, what with all the uh-mazing weekend telly that’s on offer. Most importantly, Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor - both live shows kicked off this weekend.
The two reality mega-shows went head to head on Saturday, in the most exciting telly-clash yet. But it wasn’t just ratings we were keeping an eye on. Read on for Grazia’s breakdown of the most exciting battle since Britney vs Christina.
Strictly danced it’s way to the lead in this round. The show was watched by an average of 8.72m between 6.30pm and 7.45pm, while the X Factor attracted an average of attracted 8.68m viewers from 8pm until 10.30pm, according to figures from the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB).
Never mind Tess Daly, it’s expected that female X Factor judges are battling it out for most stylish wardrobe (remember the anticipation of seeing what Dannii and Cheryl would wear each week?!) Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa both showed a lot of flesh this weekend. We favoured the dark dresses of Saturday over the skimpy bright numbers on Sunday. Tess Daly’s white Saturday dress wasn’t’ nearly as flattering as the stunning ex-model’s figure could have gotten away with, but her black dress on Friday was our pick of the entire weekend. Stunning.
Gary Barlow stormed off stage! Victoria Pendleton was in floods of tears! What a night of dramz it was. To be an Olympic athlete, we would’ve thought you’d need nerves of steel as well as muscles of steel, but even gold medallist Victoria couldn’t withstand the emotional first round of dancing on Strictly and thought her fancy footwork wasn’t quite up to scratch. We thought you did brilliantly, Vic! Meanwhile over in the ITV camp, Louis Walsh’s dithering antics caused fellow judge Gary to storm off set. Louis failed to decide who to send home between Rylan and Carolynne’s final sing-off and sent the decision to Deadlock, which meant Bye Bye to Gary’s act, Carolynne. Controversial!
Winner? X Factor
OVERALL WINNER: STRICTLY!
But who’s to say what next week will hold? Tune in to find out. Then read Grazia Daily for the real stories. Naturally.
