Country singer and all-American gal Taylor Swift has been confirmed to play Canadian folk-singer Joni Mitchell in a film.
The 22-year-old singer-best known for penning top pop hits is currently dating Conor Kennedy, grandson of Robert F. Kennedy-which basically makes Taylor American royalty. She's set to make her first big foray into acting with the new biopic, based on Sheila Weller's 2008 book Girls Like Us.
It's not her first acting gig; 2010 saw her star as a cheerleader in Valentines Day alongside ex-boyf and Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner. She has also leant her voice to a character in the Dr. Seuss film The Lorax.
Luckily this new film will be a world away from moutaschioed cartoon characters. The film's set to details the life and times of three of the 60’s most influential singers, Carole King, Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell. ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ singer Carole is rumoured to be played by The Newsroom’s Allison Pill, and the Carly Simon role has been linked to Mad Men’s Jessica Pare.
