Rumour Has It Adele Has Recorded The Bond Theme For Skyfall

19 September 2012 by

With just over a month before the cinematic release of Skyfall, the next installment in the James Bond franchise, all talk has turned to who will be singing the new theme song. Well, rumour has it (see what we did there?!) that Adele will be lending her mighty pipes to open what is expected to be one of THE biggest films of 2012.

It seems appropriate to choose someone of Adele’s calibre the year that Bond also celebrates its 50th anniversary. She’d be joining legends including Madonna, Shirley Bassey and Nancy Sinatra who have all performed a title song for one of the films.

Adele appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show last September and told him that she was planning on going back into the studio in November. But she really got the speculation ball rolling when she said, ‘Well this is actually a theme, what I've got to do for, um… Wow. That's really giving something away isn't it?’ Erm yes Adele, it is.

And despite taking a back seat from public life during the later stages of her pregnancy, she’s also been spotted going into Abbey Road studios and told a French radio station in April that she is going to release a single later this year. Intriguing…

It doesn’t take an MI6 officer to put the pieces together but as yet, there doesn’t appear to have been any official confirmation from the film studio or Adele that she has recorded the track which would be her first new release since her album 21 which came out in January 2011. Total Film are reporting the news but have yet to disclose their sources saying, ‘Those rumours can now be confirmed as fact, with the singer having penned the imaginatively named Skyfall.’

We think she’d be perfect for the job. But in case you have any doubts, here are some of our favourite songs in the Bond theme hall of fame…

Diamonds Are Forever - Shirley Bassey

Live And Let Die - Paul McCartney & Wings

You Only Live Twice - Nancy Sinatra

GoldenEye - Tina Turner

Die Another Day - Madonna
